Last year, Ben Harper stepped into Jackson Browne’s studio to bring together bits and bobs of solo material, from acoustic ballads to rock riffs, culminating in his latest lone gunman effort, Give Till It’s Gone. This is his first solo album after recording his last 5 with various bands.
While Harper is standing alone this go around, he is visited by several famous friends who contributed their talents on Give. Jackson Browne sings harmony on one track. Former Beatle Ringo Starr, with whom Harper has previously toured and recorded, played drums on a couple tracks. Harper says the song “Spilling Faith” is “the most Beatles-sounding song” he’s ever done…and now we know why!
Harper’s tenth album, Give Till It’s Gone is due out in stores May 17.

Ben Harper and the Relentless7 are headlining the “Rites of Spring” festival, along with Drake and Phoenix.
The festival will be held on April 23rd and 24th in Nashville, Tenn., with tickets going on sale February 22nd.
Ben Harper tickets are sure to fly with this lineup – Cold War Kids, Two Door Cinema Club, Sierra Leone’s Refuge All Stars, Doug E. Fresh and JJ Grey & Mofro will also perform.
